Profile and Stainless Steel Bending for Hong Kong Projects
Curved balustrades, curved ceiling frames and helical stair stringers all need section bending or plate rolling. Workshop space in Hong Kong is scarce, so many contractors and metalwork subcontractors have this work done across the border. Hongying has run its own factory in Dongguan for over 20 years. Materials and sections
- Stainless steel: 304, 316L
- Aluminium: aluminium alloy and thermally broken profiles
- Carbon steel: square and rectangular hollow sections, circular tube, channels, angles, I-sections and flat bar
We have 1000-tonne-class hydraulic bending equipment, but tonnage is not a limit for every section. Whether a section can be curved, and how, depends on material, section, wall thickness and radius, so we assess each enquiry against the drawings.
Bending, rolling, shearing and press-brake bending
Section bending suits profiles and tubes, in single or varying radius and three-dimensional twisted members. Plate rolling forms plates into cylinders or curved panels for side plates and column cladding. Shearing and press-brake bending produce folded plates, channels and cover plates. Tell us the final shape and we plan the processes.
What to send with an enquiry
- Material and section: grade, section drawing and wall thickness.
- Curve and direction: radius or curve geometry, bending direction, any twist.
- Quantity and delivery: member lengths, quantities, site location and required dates.
Dimensional checks
We set out the curves from your drawings and check each formed member against templates. Tolerances and inspection methods are agreed per project, as they differ by material and section.
Clamping allowance
Each end of a member needs a clamping length that is cut off after bending. For 6063-T4 aluminium, we allow 200 mm at each end; allowances for other materials are confirmed before material is ordered.
After forming
Members receive the specified surface treatment and are delivered to site in Hong Kong in batches that follow your construction sequence.
